Part Two of one possible ending for the Saint Amongst Steel Graves and his former master, The Mask of Winters, in the city of Thorns. What can I say - I'm a sucker for Abyssal redemption (and redemption stories in general, I suppose).

It's rather a long story...I'll give you the short version. ;)

Cathak Taeris was an arrogant man that felt he was destined for greatness, but instead found himself passed up for Terrestrial Exaltation. Worse, he found himself dying young from a plague in his family's holdings in the city of Thorns. Bitter at everyone and everything, Taeris accepted an offer for new life and new power...as one of the Abyssal Exalted (taking the name of the Saint Amongst Steel Graves), serving the Deathlord known as the Mask of Winters.

Feeling no remorse, Taeris betrayed Thorns to the Deathlord, opening its gates to his armies of the dead. In the aftermath, though, he was shocked by the nihilistic destruction of the Deathlord's commands...and probably the depths of his own betrayal too. Abandoning his new master, Taeries set out into Creation, not knowing where to go or why...

That's where the character is now, in our game. In this version, though, I've jumped ahead to a possible final ending. Taeris has learned much and suffered greatly for it, and finally sees that he was once as much a monster as the Deathlords, long before he accepted their deal. Learning that the Mask of Winter sent the plague to Thorns that led him to make his deal, the Saint resolves to conquer himself...and then undo what he helped see done to his homeland.

In the process he finds the true strength hidden beneath the blackness of an Abyssal Exaltation - the Unconquered Heroism of a Solar Exalt. :)

I'm glad you like it, but...more? :)

I had never planned on drawing more than these two pages on this one...although I guess, to be fair, there's nothing stopping me from doing so. ;)

I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one hoping to see it continue. :D

Always the beautiful thing about RPGs is that the story becomes your own. Who's to say that something like this can't happen hmm? The deathlords aren't invulnerable after all... just mostly so ;)

Yes, that's one of the things that I like about the Exalted stuff - enough is left up to the Storyteller that they have plenty of room to play around with many of the major NPCs...

Precisely... and so much fits into it that you've got a lot of room to play with stuff.
