The Blade Beyond Adamant (Artifact 4)
Who can say what was the nature of that blade, first among weapons, that cut the Wyld in the hands of the Primordials, forming place from that placeless space? Of it, perhaps, nothing besides remains, save for a shard of adamant stronger than adamant, found by the Mountain Folk in the heart of the Imperial Mountain, unworkable even by their most skilled of hands.
In tribute, the Mountain Folk passed the shard into the hands of the gods, and from the gods it came to the hands of the one called the greatest - the Unconquered Sun. Through skill and dedication and magic and might he formed the blade into a weapon, and made it one of many that he turned against the Primordials in hands of the Exalted.
Strong was the sword in the hands of such heroes, and at the end of that terrible struggle it left even he who would become Isidoros, the Black Boar That Twists the Skies, bleeding and broken and willing to surrender to the Incarnae and their allies. As part of the oath the Exalted quenched that terrible sword in orichalcum, hiding it from the black eyes of Isidoros and promising that this seal would hold as long as the oaths of the Primordials were upheld. Throughout the long ages the sword's golden edge felled many foes, but never again did it's adamant gleam in sunlight, though perhaps that time approaches an end. As the Neverborn stir in their tombs and the Yozi seek Reclamation, perhaps the Blade Beyond Adamant will be needed once again.
In its standard form, the Blade Beyond Adamant is a normal orichalcum grand daiklave (Exalted, pg. 385), possessing all the usual traits of such a weapon. A powerful Solar Exalt (and only a Solar Exalt) may break the seal and release the adamant blade by committing seven additional motes to the weapon, shattering its orichalcum shell and revealing the true daiklave beneath.
In its true form, the Blade Beyond Adamant has the traits of an adamant grand beamklaive (Alchemicals, pg. 210) for as long as the weapon is released, save that it can be wielded in one hand, has no Repair rating, and only a single hearthstone socket. The release of the Blade Beyond Adamant is not without peril, however, as both Isidoros and the Bureau of Destiny are made aware of the sword's reappearance, and may investigate it as best they can. Resealing the sword requires only that the Solar release the additional committed motes, which draws back the orichalcum to the blade, sealing it once again until it is needed anew.
